Ashwoods Electric Motors have officially announced the two charities the business will be supporting through various fundraising activities for 2019. The Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Surfers Against Sewage have been chosen by staff as charity partners for the Innovation Valley-based manufacturer of electric motors.

In a company wide employee vote, these two organisations were selected after extensive shortlisting. All fundraising activities for 2019 by Ashwoods Electric Motors will be split between the two charities.

The Devon Air Ambulance Trust has been operating in the region since 1986 and has completed over 26,000 ‘missions’ in that time – assisting 990 patients in 2017 alone. With 720 hours combined time in the skies over the course of 2017, the Devon Air Ambulance Trust helicopters spent the equivalent of a month in the air, or two hours every day.

Surfers Against Sewage is a national charity, with a large focus in the South West, and looks at reducing environmental damage to our beaches and oceans. With initiatives regarding clean beaches, single use plastic, water quality and climate change, the group is politically active and prominent in Westminster circles. The South West Surfers Against Sewage oversaw 188 beach cleans by 16,826 volunteers, removing 31,235 kilograms of plastic from our region’s beaches in 2018.

Lloyd Ash, Managing Director at Ashwoods Electric Motors commented:

“It is with great pleasure that we announce Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Surfers Against Sewage as our two official charity partners for 2019. We will do everything we can to make this partnership a success for two fantastic causes that operate on our doorstep. A global innovator and manufacturer, we always remain true to our roots in the south west of England.”

The team at Innovation Valley are looking forward to working with these organisations and there is plenty in the diary in terms of fundraising activities for Ashwoods Electric Motors staff, so watch this space!
