Jean-Pierre is our new Production Engineer, meaning he project manages the Double-Axial Flux motor range as well as being the point of contact for engineering queries for customers.
He deals with the successful building of motors, scheduling of builds, procurement of incoming parts, customer concerns, quality issues and anything else for this particular motor. His day-to-day role involves continuing to improve the build process to help with production quality and performance. Getting a product ready for full-scale production is very different to building one-offs. What he likes the most about his job is that it’s always different, which is partly down to the fact that it’s both office and workshop based.
Before working with Ashwoods, he was a Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer for an aerospace company. He was the process engineer and was in charge of managing the continuous programmes.
He says that his biggest strength is getting on with it, talking to people, communicating well, not being afraid to ask questions, dealing with problems and solving them. On the other hand, his biggest weakness is that he doesn’t write enough down and he’s not good at remembering things.
Jean-Pierre owns a house with his girlfriend, who is a probation officer for the prison service, here in Exeter. He likes cycling a lot as well as mountain biking and surfing. He also makes his own cider from his own apple tree and loves barbequing.
Something interesting about him is that he is really good at handstands and walking in them, that’s his party trick!
If he could make anything, he would build an instant travelling booth and quickly zip to the Alps for an hour for some off-piste fun during his lunch break.
